Dr. Ryan Montague and his wife Debra started Divine Opportunity Ministries to help Christians find their true value, worth, and identity in Christ. So that those who say they abide in Christ might actually walk and conduct themselves just as Christ walked and conducted himself (1 John 2:6). This was birthed out of their own journey of moving from a lukewarm faith to a passionate and engaged faith.

For the past two decades, God has taken Ryan on a wild adventure through life that has uniquely prepared and positioned him to take on this mission. This journey began in college feeling adrift, meaningless, and romantically lonely with suicidal thoughts. Then came a move to Hollywood to explore the entertainment industry, which led to discovering Christ in new and profound ways. That led him out of entertainment and into higher education, including six years in grad school and ten years as a full-time professor of Communication Management specializing in emotional intelligence in personal and professional relationships.

During his time as a professor is when Ryan took a deep dive into the connections between Biblical principles and social science research that solidified his confidence that Jesus Christ–and a Biblical worldview–is the only possible hope for personal and widespread human flourishing. 

God has brought Ryan through this journey for such a time as this. Ryan and Debra pushed all their chips to the center of God’s table, hedged all their bets on Jesus Christ, and they are dedicating their lives to His calling. 

Ryan is the author of two books: (1) Divine Opportunity: Finding God in the Conversations of Everyday Life and (2) Untapped Potential: Moving from a Mediocre to a Miraculous Testimony. And he specializes in teaching three content areas: (1) Kingdom Coupling, (2) Kingdom Mindset, and (3) Kingdom Moments. 

Ryan has a Ph.D. in Interpersonal Communication from the University of Missouri- Columbia. He also has a M.A. in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication from California State University-Northridge and a B.A. in Communication from the University of Missouri-Columbia. For a decade Ryan taught courses in Interpersonal Communication, Emotional Intelligence, Persuasion and Attitude Change, Family Communication, and Research Methodology.
